Let’s escape the heat this weekend and venture to Capitola, CA. It’s gonna be a heat wave in most of the State this weekend, let’s escape to the beach. What a cool beach town to explore. They have a few different breweries, tons of amazing food, and the weather will be on the cooler side. Let’s go! A few spots you have to visit while you are in Capitola are Beer Thirty, which has 30 beers on tap and a huge bottle shop. Dog and kid friendly on one side of their beer garden. Love corn hole or ping bong! Great because they have a few sets in their 21 and up beer garden. If your more interested in wine you have to visit Cava Wine Bar which also has a few beers on draft but mainly specializes in European wines and Bubbles. Sante Adairius Rustic Ales is one of the best micro brews in California. They are widely known for their delicious Sours that can be aged and enjoyed with friends and family. Get there early because the tasting room fills up pretty quick. Last but not least eat, drink, and dance at Zelda’s on the Beach! During the day you can dine out on the patio which, is right on the beach; At night you can enjoy live music and dancing. It’s a one stop shop at Zelda’s.
Calistoga, CA is on the other side of Napa Valley. If your coming here, your coming for the wine! A very peaceful and friendly town filled with lots of shopping, food, and of course wine! One of our all time favorite wineries that specializes in Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon is called W.H. Smith Wines and is located right on Lincoln Avenue. If T’Anne is behind the wine bar it will be your lucky day. She is very knowledgable about their wines and is friendly and enjoyable to talk to about wine, life, and adventure. We also love Tank Garage Winery that is in an old gas station. They make great blends and have a secret speakeasy in the back of the shop. Well I guess it’s not a secret anymore. Make Lava Vine your last wine stop for the day if out wine tasting. The guys behind the bar are so fun and entertaining let alone all the other wine tasters that you get to know. It’s a tight spot so you get pretty comfortable with your neighbor standing next to you! If you love music this is your winery. They love to entertain you with a guitar solo, or a group karoake session! You can’t go wrong with eating day or night at the Hydro Bar & Grill. They usually have live music Saturday and Sunday nights. For the most part Calistoga is pretty quiet after 9pm. You can also go to Susies Bar which is pretty awesome all in it’s self.
3. Bodega Bay
Bodega Bay, CA has the best crab sandwhich I have ever had in my life. Sometimes I dream about it in my sleep. Spud Point is a must stop to eat fresh crab, and clam chowder in Bodega Bay. It’s on the way to the point where you can over look the ocean and watch for whales, dolphines, or E.T. We love Sonoma Coast Winery which specializes in Pinot Noir and over looks a perfect ocean view right out there windows. If you want a nice romatic dinner make a reservation at Inn at the Tides. We had one of the best dinners here with amazing 5 star service. If you want a beach day head over to Dunnes Beach where you can relax, catch some rays, and build a sand castle! If you are camping in your trailer, renting a house, or staying at a hotel or inn you will be relaxed by the end of your trip. You might not want to go back to reality. Before you leave you have to check out Gourmet Au Bay new location and food selection.
Winters, CA is going to be hot this weekend but it will be worth it to come to this small town in between Vacaville and Davis. Full of great food, wine, and beer. Very close to Lake Berryessa, if you want to bring along your Kayaks for the weekend it would be great to cool off. Everything in this small town is amazing so we are going to hit just a few and you can explore the rest. The Buckhorn Steakhouse has been a staple in this community for many decades and continues to amaze us with their menu. You will need to make a reservation if you plan on dining in the dining room. Preserve is a great upscale bar that has an ever-changing food menu, great craft beer on draft, and delicious cocktails. You can catch the game on one of there T.V’s or play a game of shuffle board with your friends and family.Main Street Cellars is like your local “Cheers” but is a Wine and Beer bar. Mike knows everyone’s name and will fit you with the right drink for the night. They are starting to do food on Friday nights with local ingredients that taste amazing. You will keep coming back to Main Street Cellars every time you visit. Heading out to Lake Berryessa stop at Berryessa Brewing for a pint of their delicious craft beer on tap. They usually have food trucks, and live blue grass music on the weekends.
Mendocino, CA is one of the best little towns to explore and escape the heat! Rent a little cabin or stay at the Little River Inn that overlooks a gorgeous ocean view. On your way into Mendocino you can stop at a few wineries and taste the delicios Pinot Noirs and Gewurztraminer that Anderson Valley has to offer. One of our favorite wineries is Goldeneye which is part of the Duckhorn wine family. The official wine of the San Francisco Giants. Sit outside on their patio for a paired wine tasting experience while looking out at the beautiful vineyards! Toulouse Vineyards has the best price points for their wine in the area! Sitting up top of the hill you can have a view for days over looking the valley. Delicious wines, great and friendly staff and Owner! Bring a picnic and eat lunch out on their picnic area under the redwoods. Make sure you stop and pick up some Olallieberry Jam at the Mendocino Jams and Preserves store located at the very end on Main Street. We love to serve it with our cheese platters. Put it over goat cheese and serve it with crackers, amazing! We love the Albion River Inn restaurant for dinner. You will have amazing food, service, and aumbience. Plus a beautiful ocean view. After dinner head over to Patterson Pub which is a local Irish Bar. Great food, drinks and atmosphere.
